Relic - Boardgame Busts

Leather brown Army Painter spray, base coat and a little highlighting before thinned Army Painter Strong Tone applied with a brush and thinned with mineral spirits, usually on whilst on the model, allowing for more control.  My standard method these days.

Painting in a larger scale was a lot of fun and has inspired me to try my hand at more busts in future.

"What?  Why are you standing there?"

"Look, I'm trying to rest between takes you pleb"

"Haven't you seen a man with no appendages before?!  I'll bite your legs off!"

Ork Nobz - more of them.

Per the title, here are a few more of the plastic Ork Nobz I painted.  These little bastards went for an adventure behind the sofa cushion, were found and fixed up!

Here's the link to the first ones I posted a little while back:

Space Ork Nobz

These chaps are from the 5th edition 40k boxed set, picked up cheaply on ebay.  They were great fun to paint and I was able to try out a rust effect that looked ok after a good dipping.  Recipe:  Metal, stippled brown, then orange.

Space Ork Buggy

Red ones go fasta!

Mantic resin Marauder (Ork) Buggy.

Space Orks with 'Eavy Weapons

Always a silent "H", am I right?

Here are some dipped Mantic Marauders (Orks) with (h)eavy weapons.

(Space) Nazis... I hate those guys

Eureka 15mm Sci Fi Germans sculpted by Mike Broadbent.  I painted about 40 of these about a year ago.  I've collected some vehicles and mechs to convert and add to my Space Nazi forces.  Must get around to that...

Chamax

Here are some 15mm Pendraken aliens painted up with a technique I pinched from TMP:

Racing Blue metallic spray from Tamiya, washed with Badab Black GW wash.

These were used in my running of the Chamax adventure "Plague" from 1983 for the new Mongoose Traveller.

Luke, I am your farter

Dwarf Vader (Heresy Miniatures) is a level 1 Dungeons and Dragons character who had the fortune of pinning down and choking out a dragon, MMA style.  I love 4th edition D&D!!  :)

This was my experiment in painting a miniature with an "open source lighting" effect; the light from the flaming fire sabre reflecting from the armour.  The colours in the photo are a little washed out, the flames looking a little better in real life.

Space Tommy

Space Tommy Sergeant

Needs a bit of basing this fellow.  Quickly painted up 40 of the Warzone plastic Imperials last weekend.  Painted up for a game of Space Fag at the club.  I won.  Does that make me a loser, also?

  • Tamiya Spray Red Brown (Red Leather?) as undercoat and base coat
  • Various Vallejo browns in use (top tip:  don't bother if using dip as final coat before dullcoating).
  • Snakebite Leather on the trim of the knees.
  • Privateer Press Bloodstone on the bolt-gun knock off.
  • Vallejo Steel overbrushed on the metals.
  • Mecharium Red on the shoulder pad
  • Russian uniform green on the other.
  • Army Painter strong tone (middle strength) over the top.
  • Dullcote
